FMF Stationery Project : Back To School - Press Release
In October 25, 2013 Flaviana Matata Foundation launched “FMF Stationeries Project”; a project that encompasses sensitizing corporations, government institutions and Tanzanians at large to donate and distribute FMF Stationeries (exercise books, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, mathematical sets and backpacks) to underprivileged students in Tanzania. The revenue from the project is used to pay school fees and other costs associated with provision of quality education to girls under Flaviana Matata Foundation. Currently the foundation is sponsoring 15 girls studying in different secondary schools in Tanzania.
The Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) a social security scheme striving to become the provider of choice of Social Security Services in Tanzania. PSPF have partnered with Flaviana Matata Foundation (FMF) for “Back to School Project”; in fulfilling the Fund’s Corporate Social Responsibilities obligations. With Flaviana Matata leading the project PSPF has distributed stationery kits that include 1 school backpack, 12 exercise books, 1 mathematical set, 3 pens, 2 pencils and one rubber eraser.
During the first phase (January 2014) PSPF has donated 1000 FMF Stationery kits to underprivileged students in the Costal region. 280 students of Chanzige Primary School in Kisarawe, 420 students of Kimanzichana Primary School in Mkuranga and 300 students of Msinune Primary School received stationery kits for the academic year 2014. We are expecting to reach more students across Tanzania during the second phase of the project in July 2014.
Russell Simons a business mogul and activist who discovered and introduced Flaviana Matata to the modeling arena in the United States of America has also contributed exercise books and pens to 500 underprivileged students under Tanzania Mitindo House in Dar es Salaam, The Olevolos Project in Arusha and Mwasele Primary School in Shinyanga. Each student shall receive 12 exercise books and 2 pens. We urge Tanzanians to join hands with us in this campaign to improve the quality of education in Tanzania through supporting underprivileged students in the country. This can be achieved by donating a single stationery kit or exercise books to students in Tanzania and can be done by individuals, corporations or government institutions.
Flaviana Matata Foundation (FMF) is a non-governmental, not for profit organization working to inspire, empower and support young girls in Tanzania by aiding them to utilize their full potential through educating them. To achieve its objectives, FMF sponsor underprivileged girls in secondary schools by paying their school fees, supplying them with school uniforms and support them from secondary school to higher learning.
